Kimberly Crumpler and Scott Gonzales stood in front of about 50 friends Sunday, exchanging vows in a wedding ceremony they won five days earlier.  Crumpler said she and Gonzales who got engaged in December, had been having trouble decide how they wanted to get married.

It was kind of back and forth about how we wanted to handle it she said "and I saw that and said, 'Well, this could decide it for us'.

Kimberly Crumpler and Scott Gonzales exchange vows Sunday at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux, married by Rev. Darlene Liedig

Paula Jones of Celebrations Wedding and Events said she had been asked by the Holiday Inn Bordeaux to stage a ceremony room to for a Bridal Expo it hosted Sunday.

I'm looking at the cost, and the time and the energy that went into it, she said "and I said, 'What a shame it would be for this room to go to waste'.

So she posted the contest to her Facebook page last Sunday, giving the brides 24 hours to send in three reasons why they should win the ceremony.  The Holday Inn's sales and marketing department selected the winning response.

It's not that we deserve it any more than anyone else but it's just a testimony that you can find love at any age, at any time of your life", Crumpler said.

Sunday's ceremony marked the second marriage for both Crumpler, 48 and Gonzales, 49, each of whom has two children.

Crumpler got the news she won Tuesday evening.

I didn't have a dress until Friday, because with all the snow and stuff it was kind of hard to get out, 'Crumpler said.

Crumpler, who works with South River Electric Utility, and Gonzales, a lieutenant with the Fayettevlle Fire Department, met through a mutual friend last April.

"We just hand a connection from day one," Crumpler said.

The day after Christmas, Gonzales gave Crumpler an engagement ring, which he wrapped in six boxes, each in a different wrapping paper.

When they found out last week they would be getting married Sunday, everything began to fall into place, haircuts, dresses an mass texts to notify friends and family.

Gonzales said the couple will now have extra time and money to devote to planning a honeymoon at some point over the summer.

Jones planned and directed the wedding and decorated the ceremony room, said many vendors joined forces to make the wedding happen, including wedding minister Darlene Liedig, Five Star Entertainment with ceremony music and room lighting, Carolina Convention Services with pipe and drape to line the room in white, Owens and Bordeaux Florist with bridal party flowers, George Joell III wit photography, Carmen Johnson of Flawless Vision with hair and makeup, Your Celebration Time with balloons at the entrance and Doves Above with dove release.

Despite the suddenness of the ceremony, Gonzales said the short notice didn't really mean moving much fast for the couple.

"Today, tomorrow, the next day-----we both know what we want in our lives, and that's one of the things that attracted me to Kim so much." Gonzales said.  "It's not very often your can meet someone and have a common ground to understanding."
